Big news…

Posted on January 31st, 2012

2011 was a year of making up for the previous 5 years, this year is all about MUSIC.

The realm7G live act will be coming to the LA stage very soon. It’s a small gig – for now. But big news to get this stuff to a LIVE audience. Details to follow.

The Axe Dirtcathalon!!!!

Posted on May 17th, 2011

Team Tiger Awesome is a comedy troupe that creates various projects and sketches for Cracked.com, Atom.com and several other sites. After working with them over the past few months, we finally finished “The Axe Dirtcathalon, a contest for Axe Body Wash hosted by actor Rob Riggle. For this project I did all the music and needed to come up with several styles, including pop-ish songs for the contests, orchestral sports-style themes for the intros, and various beats and grooves.

You can check out all the episodes (except the final show, which will air at the end of the month) here.

Live and recording…

I’ve had two rehearsals with drummer Adam Hanson and he seems to love the odd-time signatures. This stuff is so much fun to play live. Hoping for a show in January.

Going to record Nate Gibson‘s vocals for the psychobilly song I wrote for the upcoming short “Forever Is A Long Time”. Looking forward to collaborating with him for the first time in 7 years!

Making it happen, one step at a time.

Just finished the theme song for a TV pilot called “The Hub”. Looks to be a good show.
Live show is still in the works. Going into rehearsals with drummer Adam Hanson soon.
“Interrogation” has been posted online here!
Writing my first psychobilly song for a film. Wish me luck. Where’s Nate Gibson when you need him?

Adding another station…

If you haven’t visited the realm7G jukebox, do it now before you even finish reading this. There were FIVE complete stations with hours of streaming music, but now there are SIX, thanks in part to me adding the tracks from the webseries (“I Am Asian, How Are You?”), a collection of jazz and jazz-ish works while we were attempting anti-indie music music.

Enjoy.

Posting “Interrogation”…as promised months ago

Posted on September 4th, 2010

It has been a summer of work, work and traveling. I’m still in the midst of planning a realm7G live act, which was unfortunately put on the back-burner during all that time. In between work, I was also writing music for the newest Istvan Criste (“Escape From Darwin“) project. We’re keeping that film hush-hush because we’re only making scenes and a trailer to pitch the feature. Just know that the action is so much fun to music write for.

I’ve also been working on the theme music for the upcoming series, “The Hub“. No, the music for the trailer is not mine, but the main theme song will be when the project is finished. And unlike most of my other stuff, this one is light and fun. I swear!

Finally, the Ryan Reels project “Interrogation” has clips posted! Check them out here: on the film music page.

Expanding and promoting…

If you’re reading this, chances are that you’re already on my mailing list. But, if not, you should know that I started sending out a monthly newsletter to spread the word about all the projects that I’m working on. All these little projects, like the webisodes and short films that only have a limited span, I thought could use a little push.

I’ll be adding clips from the short film “Interrogation” soon, so check for those. And e-mail me at barryneely@gmail.com if you’d like to be part of my monthly newsletter.

Trying a little experiment…

I have never done something this big to expose all the music I have done over the years. Up on this site are 5 different channels, or “stations” as I loosely call them: “One Day…Will Subside” (the ENTIRE project), classical, hard/progressive, mellow, and world music. There was just too much music in my library that no one has heard because the music was most likely made for a project that just came and went.

But it’s all up – now.

website updates and more…

Posted on February 9th, 2010

If you haven’t noticed, I have made several minor improvements to my website. I figured after 6 or 7 years of having the same tabs on top, I needed to do SOMETHING. And to make it much more convenient for anyone coming here to view my reels, they’re on every page. Time to step up.

“Interrogation”, the film directed my Ryan Reels, is being finalized. We had to finish a draft quite quickly in early January, so after that initial screening at a Glendale-based writing group, we knew what we had to clean up and improve. Thanks to Yoed Nir’s amazing cello work, making it better was far easier.

Stay tuned for a screening of “Escape From Darwin.” Finally, an LA screening!

Update on “Interrogation”

Posted on January 7th, 2010

I found time over the holidays to work on director Ryan Reels’ latest film, “Interrogation” only to find out the screening was a few days after I was to return. That meant time to speed things up. Thankfully, cellist Yoed Nir came aboard and ran through some pretty complicated parts based on Bach’s Cello Suite #5. Making it sound easy, I’m able to finish the film today.
